Start with cost and eligibility. 17 of the Irish courses we list are free and 26 are funded or subsidised through a public scheme. Each scheme has its own rules: see funded AI training in Ireland for who qualifies, in the schemes' own words.
Decide if you need an award. NFQ awards (Level 7 to 9 in our listings) take months and suit a career change or a formal qualification. Short workshops from a few hours to a few days suit people who want hands-on practice with AI tools at work.
Online or in person? Most courses are online. 17 Irish courses we list are in person, blended or let you choose; filter by delivery above.
It depends on what you need. For a free start: AI for You: An Introduction to AI and The EU AI Act, Artificial Intelligence (ICDL Certificate) on eCollege and AIReady.ie national AI skills platform. For a funded award while working: Skillnet-subsidised NFQ courses such as Certificate in Foundations of Artificial Intelligence. For a university qualification: 13 NFQ Level 7 to 9 awards are listed below.
Yes. eCollege courses are free: "All of our courses are free for you including course costs, exams, materials, etc" (you "you must be resident in the Republic of Ireland with a PPS number and be over 18"). AIReady.ie is the Government's free AI skills website, and CeADAR's EDIH for AI courses are fully funded for eligible organisations. Springboard+ is "free for unemployed participants and returners to the workforce".
Some are fully funded and most are subsidised, so you pay a reduced fee. Skillnet Ireland training is for businesses: "Private sector and commercial semi-state businesses can join a relevant Skillnet Business Network, or one of our national Initiatives, and avail of our services". For jobseekers, "Skills Connect training is free and is open to most unemployed people, subject to eligibility criteria".
For some people. Springboard+ is "free for unemployed participants and returners to the workforce", and "those in employment typically pay just 10% of the course fee". The 2027 round had not been announced when we last checked.
